Established in 1990, iab are a family run business specialising in the consultation, design, installation, and refurbishment of laboratories, controlled working environments and office areas.
Working closely with a strong network of suppliers and sub-contractors iab provides a competitive and comprehensive service throughout the UK.
Meet The Team
John Arran - CEO
Having spent 50 years in the industry, with the last 30 years successfully running iab, John has now taken on the role of CEO. The business started in 1990 and has progressively increased in stature in
this specialist market.
As the major shareholder he continues to be involved in the business, providing technical support to
the team.
Helen Hey - Managing Director
Helen graduated Lancaster University in 2001 and started working as a project engineer for iab in 2005. Helen became a director of the company in 2012 and took over as Managing Director in 2017 when John retired.
Over the last 15 years Helen has gained a wealth of experience and knowledge in all areas of laboratory design and construction. As well as her role as Managing Director Helen is also a fully active member of the contract management team, undertaking all aspects of projects from enquiry through to completion.
Andrew Bailey - Contracts Manager
Andrew joined iab in June 2008 as the accounts/office administrator with the view to being trained in all other aspects of the business, quickly becoming part of the contracts team.
Andrew is especially skilled in the engineering and technical aspects of projects as well as being the company’s main AutoCAD and Revit specialist.
Nicola Slater - Accounts Manager
Nicola joined iab in 2011 in an accounts/payroll roll on a part time basis.
As the business has grown over the last decade her hours and responsibilities have increased and Nicola is now Accounts and Payroll Manager as well as being the companies Quality Representative
for ISO9001:2015. Nicola also looks after HR and training for the business.
Shannon Lawton - Contracts Manager
Shannon joined iab in August 2021 after returning to work from maternity leave.
Shannon began as contracts assistant and after 9 months made the progression to Contracts Manager, looking after both Full Turn Key and Small Works Contracts.
Shannon joined iab as she was keen to start a new career, which would challenge her and offer for growth and career progression. Since joining iab Shannon has completed courses in AutoCAD and Revit alongside construction related Health & Safety.
Jenny Dixon - Maintenance Manager
Jenny joined iab part time in March 2022 following a restructure of the business to expand the maintenance division. Since starting Jenny has streamlined the services and developed a successful
relationship with both new and existing Clients.
In February 2023 Jenny became a full time member of the team and was promoted to Trainee Contracts Manager working alongside Shannon and Andrew.
Hazel Jowett - Trainee Maintenance Manager
Hazel joined the iab team in March 2023 to take over from Jenny following her progression within the company.
